Looking down the Panhandle TrailThe Panhandle Trail is named after the Panhandle Division of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the abandoned rail line upon which it is built. The Panhandle Trail stretches for 29 miles from Walkers Mill in Collier Township. PA to Colliers, WV.

The Collier Friends of the Panhandle Trail maintains the approximately 2.4 miles of the Panhandle Trail from Walkers Mill Entrance to Gregg Station.

This website pertains to the portion of the Panhandle Trail maintained by the Collier Friends of the Panhandle Trail.  For portions of the Panhandle Trail located outside of Collier, click on the "Links" button above or search the Internet.

Trail Status:

The Panhandle Trail is complete from the Walkers Mill, PA trailhead to the town of Joffre, PA (approximately 14.5 miles).  The trail is unimproved for approximately the next 2.5 miles where it continues and is complete to the trailhead in Colliers, WV.Robinson Run Creek

The unimproved section may be detoured by using the following road route:

Leaving the Bulger, PA trailhead (approximately 13.5 miles from Walkers Mill, PA): 

At the stop sign, take a right turn onto Bulger - Cantor Road.
Mile 2.1 - Pass War Memorial in Joffre.
Mile 2.3 - Pass Verelest Field.
Mile 3.9 - At stop sign, take a right over the bridge.
Mile 3.9 - At red light, stay straight across Route 18.
Mile 3.95 - The road bears left.
Mile 4.1 - At stop sign, turn right.  Burgettstown Hardware is on the left.
Mile 4.15 - Turn left onto the Panhandle Trail just past the Pennsy Diner.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A ROAD DETOUR.  THE DETOUR ROUTE MAY CONTAIN STEEPER GRADES THAN THE TRAIL.  YOU WILL ALSO BE INTERACTING WITH MOTORIZED TRAFFIC.  TRAVEL AT YOUR OWN RISK.
